MetaCarta and Open Solutions provide GeoSearch and Visualization for DoD

MetaCarta and Open Solutions Group provide Geographic Search and Visualization for the Department of Defense
MetaCarta and Open Solutions Group have recently integrated map-based search of unstructured documents with emerging geospatial visualization capabilities for the Department of Defense.
Among these capabilities is the addition of text search into the open-source Completely Open Mapping Environment (COMET), a next-generation geospatial intelligence and visualization tool which provides support for open geospatial standards through a pluggable thin client and extensible API framework. In order to display map markers associated with unstructured documents, COMET uses web services provided by MetaCarta’s Geographic Search and Referencing Platform (GSRP). With full support for MetaCarta GSRP, COMET helps users such as analysts and operators find everything written about any place – simply by zooming into an area of interest.
The MetaCarta user interface components of COMET ‘s web-based geospatial environment allow users to enter keywords, date ranges, and geographic feature types (such as building or tunnel) to rapidly explore the massive volumes of content that refer to places, including published digital documents, military message traffic, bulletins, file shares, databases and artifacts from other content management systems.
Deployments of COMET can access both private MetaCarta systems and also hosted collections of public content, such as MetaCarta’s GeoSearch News. COMET is a powerful addition to the arsenal of tools using MetaCarta’s web services. The MetaCarta – OpenSGI solution demonstrates a collaborative approach to providing enhanced knowledge discovery and visualization of geospatial intelligence.
MetaCarta Inc. is the leading provider of geographic intelligence solutions. MetaCarta’s unique technology combines search and geo-tagging to radically improve search recall for geographically focused industries. MetaCarta’s natural language geo-tagging leverages the deep data sets of spatial and linguistic information that are part of the MetaCarta platform. In addition to intelligence analysis, the MetaCarta platform is used in Oil & Gas companies and also in Digital Media organizations.
MetaCarta Geographic Search and Referencing Platform (GSRP) automatically georeferences unstructured text so it can be used in location-based applications. MetaCarta GSRP offers six core Information Retrieval functions which include GeoSearch, GeoTag, Query Parser, Location Finder, Saved Search and Notification, and Document Density.
